What is the Eastside Future Teachers Project?
Why teach?For one thing, good teachers are in huge demand throughout the state of California. In places like east San Jose, the demand is even greater. As a teacher, you can contribute to your own community by helping out students who are just like you. By participating in the Project, you will:participate in workshops, Saturday programs, and summer sessions designed to prepare you for your teaching career and develop your teaching potential become a part of a unique university-sponsored retention program that will guide you through your high school years and prepare you for entering Santa Clara University gain valuable teaching experiences and knowledge that will help you in your career as a teacher. Who can participate?EFTP recruits students from the Eastside Union High School District in east San Jose or Downtown College Prep. Students who come from groups traditionally under represented in the teaching profession are especially encouraged to apply. How do I apply?EFTP applications are available beginning January. To ensure that you receive an application, first complete and return a pre-application. Read more about this process here! Office of College Special ProgramsThe Office of College Special Programs, commonly referred to as OCSP, unofficially began with the establishment of the Eastside Future Teachers Project in November, 1995. Between 1995 and 1998, a design for the office which would evolve into OCSP was developed. The OCSP was formally established in January, 1998. A total of six programs now complement the Eastside Future Teachers Project. In June, 2000, our first seven Eastside Future Teacher Project students graduated from Santa Clara University.
