Feminist Family Therapy: Implications for Practice
n this four hour workshop, we will explore the use of feminist principals in family therapy. Since the nineteen seventies men and women therapists who are feminist-informed have been encouraging the field of family therapy to examine the idea of social context and values which enforce gender inequality in systems. Feminist-informed family therapy is not a distinct model of therapy or set of techniques. It is rather a way of thinking about gender and political structures in which we all participate and which we therapists may unconsciously support while trying to help folks to grow toward more complex and satisfying relationships. We will look at feminist informed tools for inclusion and balance and examine our own belief about the role of gender in family and society. Saturday, October 28, 2006
