Here are some tips in preparing materials to be made into
slides and overhead transparencies:
1. Pictures in books and periodicals. Please list
images on a single sheet of paper by page number and description
of location (middle, lower right, etc.). If the image is to
be cropped, make a xerox copy and draw the boundaries on the
xerox copy for the cropped image or briefly describe what
is to be cropped.
2. Original artwork. Images up to 11"x14"
reproduce well. CAD drawings and other line drawings which
have a white background need to have thick lines and the line
color should be red, blue or green (yellow and pastels do
not show up against white). Halftones (pictures from newspapers
and some magazines) smaller than 2"x2" may show
dot structure of the picture when reproduced.
3. Computer images generated in graphics programs such
as Powerpoint, Adobe Illustrator and CAD drawings. Some general
rules for setting up images for slides:
- go to page setup and choose 35mm slide;
- use backgrounds designed for 35mm slides;
usually
backgrounds are
dark with light text (see help).
- pictures imported into PowerPoint
and other
presentation programs
should be inserted as a
graphics file,
not cut and pasted;
- for unusual fonts please call to coordinate
printing
slides from our
computer. We may not have the
fonts. If
there is time, send us some sample files to
print before doing
the job.
