MEDIA SERVICES STUDENT JOB

Media Distribution Assistant III

(hours between 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday; may vary from quarter to quarter based on class schedule)

(4 hours/week minimum)


I.    Primary purpose of position:  Assist in providing instructional support in the classroom.

II.   Essential Duties: Delivery and setup of audio visual, video, and computer equipment to the classroom or meeting rooms; assist students, faculty, and staff in the use of equipment; perform minor maintenance of equipment.

III.  Specific Duties (representative examples of tasks or projects related to the essential duties listed above):

 We provide extensive training on the following:

A.  Deliver, setup, and test audio visual, video, and computer projection equipment.
B.  Pickup, properly pack up and return equipment appropriate location.
C.  Train students, faculty, and staff how to operate equipment.
D.  Answer distress calls and trouble shoot problems; refer problems to supervisor as necessary.
E.  Inventory and maintenance of equipment.
F.  Keep work areas neat and orderly.
G.  Check out/in videotapes from University collection using check-out cards; verify videotape is available prior to checkout.
H.  Check out/in equipment to student, faculty, and staff using check-out cards; verify equipment is available prior to checkout.
I. Make miscellaneous deliveries and run errands.
J. Take scheduling request from students, faculty, and staff.
K. Answer inquiries from students, faculty, staff, and visitors regarding department services or quickly direct more complex inquiries to appropriate individual or departments.
L. Answer phones and take detailed messages as necessary.
M. Act as backup to Media Lab assistants to oversee non-print reserve operation.

IV. Qualifications (minimum required; maximum preferred):

A. Professional:
  1. Currently enrolled student at Santa Clara University having a 2.0 GPA or better.
  2. Experience with working with customers in a work environment preferred.

B. Personal/Personality:
  1.  Service oriented.
  2.  Ability to work effectively and communicate with a diverse population of students,
staff and faculty.
  3.  Ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy (sometimes chaotic) and
demanding environment.
  4.  Ability to work with minimal supervision; self-motivated; shows initiative.
  5.  Fast learning with good problem solving skills.
  6.  Responsible and dependable with good attendance and work habits.
  7.  Incoming first and second year students or graduate students preferred.
