RMI Retail Management Development Programs

Important conferences throughout the year bring together distinguished business leaders and business scholars to exchange ideas.

The Santa Clara Retail Masters Class- sponsored by Santa Clara University's Retail Management Institute is designed to provide world-class educational experiences for IS, Distribution, Finance and other senior managers and executives in leading retail and aligned organizations.

Retail Consortium for Management Education (RCME) focuses on issues important to senior and mid-level management in the retail and allied industries. It exposes participants to leading business concepts/practices presented in an interactive format by speakers with a national/international reputation. It gives participants a chance to meet with colleagues to discuss shared development issues and participate in the design of future programs. For further information contact Cynthia Gamage.

Senior Executive Seminars offered through the institute explore such subjects as corporate excellence, executive leadership, corporate culture, and comparative strategies. A recent conference on "Managing Retailing in the Information Age" focuses on how information and technology impact the organizational structure and decision making of retail firms. More than 70 senior executives from the U.S., Mexico, South America, Europe and Asia Pacific took part.

Customized Programs led by faculty members and industry leaders are tailored to particular segments of retailing focusing on areas of special interest to managers in store operations, merchandising, and information systems. Working with the trade organizations and other industry groups, the institute is developing other programs aimed directly at current interests of retail executives. Custom-designed programs have been developed for such companies as J.C.Penney, IBM, Safeway, and JUSCO-Japan. For further information contact Dale Achabal at dachabal@scu.edu or 408 554-4679
