Started close to twenty years ago the Daruma Festival is an annual
fundraiser for the West Valley
Japanese American Citizens' League. The festival is named after a
small round Japanese doll that traditionally represents perserverence
because it's round shape allows it to quickly bounce back to an upright
position after being
pushed down. This Japanese cultural festival, itself, offers a variety of
Japanese foods, arts and crafts, children's games and entertainment
and cultural performances, including taiko, Japanese Performance
drumming.
