Created in 1990, Ethiopian Community Services Inc. is a non-profit organization that offers a wide variety of services to assist Ethiopians. The objectives of ECS are to respond quickly to the economic and social needs of the Ethiopian Community; to protect the interests of the Ethiopian community both locally and abroad; to promote and develop understanding and communication between the Ethiopian community; Americans and all other communities; and to assist Ethiopians who have recently arrived in the United States with their adjustment and intergration into American society.
The services that they offer include employment referral, counseling services, legal referrals, childcare, welfare and housing services, health care access, education and training, senior citizen services, translation and interpretation, emergency intervention and health and nutrition information.
