
The Medical Department of the Indian Health Center provides basic medical care such as treatment of acute and chronic illness, preventative medical care such as cancer screening and immunizations, as well as specialized care such as pediatric and women's health care, and STD and HIV screening and counseling.
The Dental Department provides basic dental service for both adults and children. This includes preventative medicine such as flouride and cleaning, as well as other services such as examinations and x-rays. They are also able to provide a wide variety of dental work such as fillings, crowns, surgery, and dentures. Professional consultations are also available.
The Community Health Services Department provides educational programs to educate the public on health issues, such as STD and tobacco provention programs; and prenatal education. This department also offers outreach and referral services, as well as public health nursing.
The WIC Department provides nutritional information for people of all ages. Supplemental food programs can be provided for low income, pregnant, breast feeding, and/or postpardum women; and their babies and children. For mothers there is also breast feeding support programs available. Within this department the nutrition department provides nutrition counseling for diabetes, cholesterol, heart health and weight loss. This department also coordinates school and organizational presentations.
The Human Services Department of the Indian Health Center provides a wide variety of social services including case management services; assessment and evaluation; and crisis intervention. Also included in their services are mental health, alcohol and substance abuse counseling and referrals to other support services.
The Education Resource Center is a free program for Native American Students and their families. They provide tutorial service for children K-12, individualized educational programs, educational outreach services to homes, schools, and the local community, as well as career and higher education guidance counseling. They also provide school and organizational presentations, literacy training for children and adults, as well as classes on history, culture and dance.
The services provided by the Indian Health Center of the Santa Clara Valley are focused on Native Americans, but are open to everyone. The fees for the services vary. Please contact the number above for more information.
