The Japantown Business Association acts as a liaison between the city government and the wide variety of businesses, churches and organizations in the area. Mainly concerned with the physical appearance of Japantown, this association organizes street grooming, the hanging of decorative street banners and the planting of greenery, as well as many other activities needed to keep Japantown beautiful. One of the biggest events organized by the Japantown Business Association is the weekly Japantown Farmer's Market which has between 20 and 40 vendors depending on the season. A large variety of both common and Asian fruits and vegetables are sold, as well as organically grown produce. Also sold are manufactured products such as wholesome breads, juices and dried fruit. The Japantown Farmer's Market takes place on Sunday between 8:30am and 12:00pm on Jackson Street between 7th and 8th Streets.
