Affiliated with the San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin, the Lotus Preschool is located
in San Jose's Japantown. The Lotus Preschool emphasizes "learning by playing" and "learning
by doing" in their well-rounded daily curriculum which includes projects that emphasize
readiness skills and ample play time which develops social skills. The Lotus Preschool also
provides field trips for the children, as well as the regular visits to Yu-Ai Kai, a senior
day care program, to interact with the participants there. There are also special
celebrations on holidays, including Halloween during which the children parade through the
Yu-Ai Kai and Fuji Towers, low-income housing for the elderly.
The Lotus Preschool presently has a 2-year waiting list.
