-Health Screenings, Education and Referral which prevents serious health problems through such services as blood pressure checks.
-Recreational Activities which provide a social outlet for many people. This is achieved through trips, monthly birthday parties, afternoon card parties, holiday dinners, and folk dancing. The nutritional program also provides a social gathering place for seniors, as well as a hot meal.
-Legal Services and Tax Assistance
-Adult Education in both English and Citizenship
-Information Referrals that make public and private programs more accessible. These programs include: Social Security, Public Assistance, Disability Insurance, Medicare and Medi-Cal, Unemployment Insurance and Immigration and Naturalization.
-Senior Case Management
-Distribution of food commodities as a Second Harvest Food Bank distributor and through the SHARE Program in which community services are exchanged for food.
-Summer Camp for underpriviledged youth
The Portuguese Community Center also provides an Portuguese library which was donated by the Portuguese Government. This library includes a wide variety of Portuguese langauge volumes on economics, social and natural sciences, travel, leisure and history, as well as literature. There are also various current Portuguese periodicals and newspapers available. This library is open to anyone interested in Portuguese material.
