With its foundation in 1991, the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce of the Santa Clara Valley is dedicated to its mission statement, "to promote, enhance, and strengthen the commercial, professional, civic and general business interests of its members and all Portuguese- Americans through education, common cultural ties and community involvement."*
The Chamber of Commerce unites local Portuguese businesses within a single entity, associating members through cultural interests. Businesses are provided with a network of support through other members, local advertisment possibilities, connections with both Portuguese and U.S. government agencies, and membership benefits. The Portuguese Chamber of Commerce enables businesses to become active within the community by participating in sponsored events, service projects, support of the youth, discussions and pertinent decision making processes.
The Portuguese Chamber of Commerce serves as a voice of strength for the Portuguese of the Santa Clara Valley. The influence of the Portuguese within the local community is, therefore, solid in its foundation and confident in approaching the future.
