In 1996 the San Jose Japanese American Chamber of Commerce was initiated
by Yosh Uchida. This chamber of commerce was created as a information
and contact resource to promote understanding of the Japanese American
culture, exchange ideas and instill community participation. Their
goals include bringing more businesses to San Jose's Japantown, promoting
Japanese American businesses in the South Bay, fostering greater
community participation and furthering the relationship with Okayama, San
Jose's Japanese sister city.
