GRADUATE PROGRAMS IN COUNSELING PSYCHOLOGY

APPLICATIONS DEADLINES

* FOR FALL QUARTER: FILE BY APRIL 1ST*
* FOR WINTER QUARTER: FILE BY OCTOBER 1ST
* FOR SPRING QUARTER: FILE BY FEBRUARY 1ST
* FOR SUMMER QUARTER: FILE BY APRIL 1ST

REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSIONS

* Application fee: $50

* Application form (please make a copy of your original and submit both copies)

* Official transcripts. Two copies of official transcripts from all college-level institutions (including junior and community colleges) attended with the degrees granted and posted. It is not necessary to submit transcripts for extension or continuing education units.

* Letters of recommendation (three letters are required; the appropriate forms are in your application packet. The admissions committee prefers the use of these forms, but will accept letters submitted on official letterhead by your recommenders.)

* Essay/statement of purpose (this is a mandatory item). Please note that you are responsible for question #1 as a counseling applicant.

* Graduate Exam Entrance Requirement. You may choose from either of these:

  • GRADUATE RECORD EXAMINATION (GRE), general
  • MILLER'S ANALOGIES TEST (MAT)

* TOEFL (required of all international students and non-native speakers of English - minimum score is 550 on the old scale, 213 on the new scale)

* Evaluation of international transcripts by a NACES certified service. We request a general evaluation that includes the degree equivalency in U.S. standards and cumulative grade point average (GPA).

  • Please note that the Counseling Psychology Admissions Committee members meet to evaluate applications completed by the deadline dates posted for the subsequent quarters. Decisions are mailed out 2-3 weeks after the deadline dates.
