Saturday MBA ProgramNote: Final class of program matriculated in Fall 2007. Students unable to attend evening MBA classes, or wishing to complete their degree in a cohort-based experience, have the option of participating in the Saturday MBA program. Classes are scheduled in the morning and early afternoon with a short break for lunch. The Saturday MBA program grants the same degree as the evening MBA program, is taught by the same faculty and has the same AACSB accreditation. A new class begins each fall, completing the degree within three years. ADMISSIONSDeferment Students wishing to defer their admission to the Saturday MBA program may transfer to the Evening MBA program. Due to the lock-step curriculum, remaining in the Saturday MBA program while deferring admission is not possible. ACADEMIC INFORMATIONEquivalency Exams and Waivers Saturday program students are eligible to petition for additional waivers after the initial admissions review and are eligible to take equivalency exams. Please see waiver and exam rules on page 32. The Saturday program is designed to provide a cohort experience, and students are expected to move through the program together. Course Load To ensure a desired flow for the Saturday MBA program, students are required to take a minimum of, and not more than, two courses per quarter throughout the year. Exceptions are made in the event of a course waiver, either due to a waiver petition being granted during the first three months of residence, or due to a course being waived during the initial admissions review. Saturday MBA students are not expected to maintain a two-course load during the quarter in which they are completing the Capstone course. Course Registration As the Saturday MBA program is designed around a cohort-based experience, registration for Saturday MBA students is administratively processed by the Graduate Business Programs office during the first two years of the program. During this time, all students will have a hold placed on their academic record to ensure registration is processed by the Graduate Business Programs office. Students will be automatically registered for the courses detailed in the individual cohort schedule. Students wishing to make changes to their academic course load must contact the Graduate Business Programs office prior to all drop/swap and/or payment deadlines. All enrollment changes falling outside the predetermined cohort schedule must be approved by the Graduate Business Programs office. Each student requesting a change from the predetermined cohort schedule must develop a plan to complete missed courses and remain on track with the cohort schedule. To ensure a full refund for tuition, Saturday MBA students wishing to drop a Saturday class must contact the Graduate Business Programs office no later than the Tuesday immediately following the first Saturday class of the quarter. In the third year, Saturday students will register for electives through the eCampus student system. Leaves of Absence Due to the cohort-based experience for the Saturday MBA program, students requiring a leave of absence will find it difficult to resume the regularly scheduled Saturday classes in addition to the courses missed during a leave. As such, Saturday MBA students requesting a leave of absence will be transferred to the evening MBA program. Transferring into Evening MBA Program Those students no longer wishing to participate in the Saturday MBA cohort must submit a written request to be withdrawn from the Saturday MBA program. This transfer to the evening MBA program shall be granted on a one-time basis only. Transferring into the Saturday MBA Program The Saturday MBA program is designed around a lock-step curriculum. As a result of this lock-step curriculum, transferring into the Saturday MBA program may not be possible. Students wishing to pursue this option should contact the Graduate Business Programs office. Transfer into the Saturday MBA program shall be granted if coursework completely matches the Saturday MBA cohort schedule. This transfer shall be granted on a one-time basis. STUDENT LIFESaturday MBA Council The Saturday MBA Council is comprised of representatives from each cohort in the Saturday MBA program. The council meets a minimum of once per quarter and assists in communicating concerns and issues to Graduate Business Programs administration. The Saturday MBA council representatives also advise on student life activities targeted directly to the Saturday MBA students. |
