Thomas E. Bertelsen Jr. MA ’93, a longtime benefactor and board member of the Jesuit School of Theology, has helped launch a $230,000 endowed scholarship fund for the Berkeley-based school, in honor of Oakland Bishop Emeritus John S. Cummins.
1996
Michelle Andre '96 writes, "After working for the Merola Opera Program at San Francisco Opera as the Director of Membership & Marketing for the past four to five years, I was recruited to head up the new marketing department (as director of marketing) for an international market research firm called Decipher. I am traveling all over the world and loving the new challenges in a new industry for me. It is putting to great use my MS in IMC from GGU too, in addition to my undergraduate degrees from SCU. And I am in the 12th year of owning my own 'side' business, Andre Design & Marketing. We also welcomed our new baby daughter home from Russia early in 2012, Nadia Marie. She just turned 2 years old on May 4. She joins big brother, Niko, who will turn 7 on June 13. A photo is attached of our daughter Nadia on her second birthday with her brother Niko on the far left, and my identical twin sister's son, Ivan, in the middle."
1997
Joseph Westfall '97 is an associate professor of philosophy at the University of Houston-Downtown. He and his wife have two-year old twins, Oliver and Eloise, and welcomed a third child, Dorothy, on May 19, 2013.
Birgitta Delurgio Hughes ’97 and husband Allen Hughes—their second child, a daughter, Faith Marie Hughes, on Oct. 22, 2012. She joins brother Rhys Delurgio Hughes, 2. The family lives in Kirkland, Wash. outside of Seattle.

Imelda (Wong) Kortens '98 and Jediah Kortens welcomed their first baby boy, Jackson Robert Kortens, into the world on April 30, 2013.
2000
Ryan Thelen '00 and Brandy Thelen '00, M.A '02—their second daughter, Ella, on Jan. 17, 2012. She joins big sister, Reese, 4. The family resides in Ventura, Calif.
Jennifer (Sticinski) Costello '00 and Casey Costello '00 welcomed their second son, Cooper Ernest on Nov. 9, 2012. Older brother Mason is 2. The family lives in Santa Rosa, CA.
2002
Brendan Stamper '02 has been working for the past year as an assistant professor at the Pacific University School of Pharmacy.
Andrew Gere MBA '02 has been promoted to Vice President of Operations at San Jose Water Company. Andrew has been with the company since 1995 and has been instrumental in the development and implementation of many regulatory compliance plans and capital improvements necessary to the company's success. He leads the company's largest employee base, including Water Quality, Operations, Distribution Systems and DS Support. In that role, he is in charge of planning and directing comprehensive programs, budgets and management staff related to water resources, water quality control, water production, storage, distribution, infrastructure maintenance and repair, metering, procurement, logistics and environmental management.
2004
Oscar Silva '04 received his PhD in Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics from UCLA. As a Medical Scientist Training Program participant, he will be returning to the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA to complete his medical training.
M. Ryan Hubbard '04 D.O. completed his residency in internal medicine at Kaiser Permanente in Santa Clara. He was the recipient of the Stanford University School of Medicine Gold Humanism in Medicine and Teaching Award. He will join the Daughters of Charity Health Foundation and work at O'Connor Hospital, where he did a health care ethics internship during his time at SCU.

2005
Konstantine Demiris J.D. '05 and Christopher Moore J.D. '06 recently formed Demiris & Moore. They specialize in conservatorship and guardianship matters, estate planning, trust and probate litigation, elder abuse, and appeals. Both partners are also court appointed as counsel in conservatorships by the State of California, Superior Court of Contra Costa County. The firm is located in the heart of downtown Walnut Creek, Calif., and handles cases throughout the Bay Area and California.
2007
Ryan Fletcher M.A. '07 was named principal of Piedmont Middle School by the Piedmont Unified School District Board of Education. The appointment is effective July 1.
Fletcher holds a multiple subject teaching credential and a professional administrative services credential. He is a graduate of the University of Vermont, with a B.S. in elementary education, and he holds an M.A. in education, from Santa Clara University.
Fletcher’s professional background includes four years as an assistant principal at J.L. Stanford Middle School in Palo Alto and two years as the summer school principal at both Palo Alto High and Henry M. Gunn High School in the Palo Alto Unified School District. He also served as a classroom teacher for seven years, teaching math and science at the middle school level and grades 3, 4, and 5 at the elementary level.
2011
Reena Aboumrad '11 married Tony Driver '11 at Chaminade Resort and Spa in Santa Cruz, CA on June 29, 2013. The two met during Winter Quarter '10 in Professor O'Brien's Accounting 130 course.
2012
Ropers Majeski Kohn & Bentley, P.C. has added Rachael E. Brown '09, J.D. '12 as an associate in its San Jose office. She graduated cum laude from Santa Clara University and also received a High Tech Law Certificate in Intellectual Property Law. During her time in law school, Brown served as assistant director of the Internal Moot Court program; helped revitalize Equality SCU, a group dedicated to advocating and advancing LGBT issues; served on the board of the Women and Law group, helping to promote the advancement of women in the legal field; and she also worked as a law clerk at RMKB.
