Walter G. Weber ’73 has been chosed by the California Dental Association (CDA) to be its new president for 2014–2015. Dr. Weber, who has been practicing general dentistry in Campbell, Calif., for more than 30 years and lives in Los Gatos, graduated from the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry and Santa Clara University, with a master's degree in business administration from Golden Gate University. He has been a CDA member for 33 years and succeeds past president, James D. Stephens, DDS.
Kevin M. Rooney ’73 was married to the former Joanne Rosenberg on Aug. 3, 2014, in Morgan Hill with several former SCU classmates in attendance. Kevin is director of operations for RNP Advisory Serices in Morgan Hill and is eagerly awaiting joining his classmates who have already crossed over into retirement.
Dave Rigney ’63, MBA ’73 and his wife Barbara celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Napili Bay in Maui with their daughters Pam O'Sullivan ’90, Sue Hamilton ’92, and Patti; their husbands Joe, Gerry Hamilton ’92, MBA ’03, and Tim; and eight grandchildren. Dave retired 10 years ago after 25 years with the Electric Power Research Institute, 13 years with Silicon Valley Power and PG&E and service with the U. S. Army in Vietnam.
Nicholas Mule ’73 retired in March 2014 after 32+ years with Hewlett-Packard/Agilent Technologies. He and his wife Shirley (also recently retired) recently moved to Southern California (Newbury Park) to be closer to their son, daughter and granddaughters.
Thomas J. Kane '73 writes that "the Kane Orthopedic Institute just celebrated its five-year anniversary in Honolulu, Hawaii. In addition to continuing 24 years of private practice in orthopedic surgery, I am assistant clinical professor of orthopedic surgery at John A. Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawaii, Manoa, and am the medical director of The Queen's Joint Center, the largest hospital in Hawaii. My eldest son was just accepted into the UH Medical School, and my younger son is a professional surfer. I have lived in Hawaii for 31 years and treasure my education at Santa Clara—a truly 'classical education' that is difficult to replicate in the modern era."

Robert Finocchio '73 has joined the board of directors of Nuance Communications Inc. Finocchio is a corporate director, private investor, and the Dean’s Executive Professor of Management at Santa Clara University, where he has served as a trustee since 1999. Finocchio also serves on the boards of Broadcom, Echelon, Silver-Peak, JustAnswer.com, and Vistage International.Previously, he served as president, CEO, and chairman of Informix Corporation. Prior to Informix, he spent nine years at 3Com Corporation, where he last served as president of 3Com Systems. He has also served in numerous executive and management roles at IBM, ROLM Corporation, and Bank of America.
Hon. J. Stephen Czuleger ’73 returned in November 2014 from teaching law in Tirana, Albania. Judge Czuleger was awarded a Fulbright grant by the Fulbright Commission of the U.S. State Department. Working through the US Embassy in Albania, he lectured at Tirana University Law School. He also spoke at a number of other law schools, met with the judges of Albania and members of the Albanian government as well as granting television and newspaper interviews. During his term, Judge Czuleger was asked to lecture on comparative law as well as issues of official corruption and independence of the judiciary. He is the first sitting judge from the United States to receive a Fulbright to teach in Albania. He continues to sit as a judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court beginning his 28th year on the court.
Cisco senior VP Howard Charney MBA ’73, J.D. ’77 and his wife of 34 years, Alida Schoolmaster Charney, have donated $10 million in matching and direct funds to Santa Clara University School of Law to fund a new technologically advanced, collaboration-oriented law school building, which will replace three current facilities and be housed near the business school to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration.
