Message from the President
In last month's newsletter I wrote about the upcoming Mass of the Holy Spirit, which we will celebrate on Wednesday, October 3 at noon in the Mission Church. At this community-wide liturgy we will mark the beginning of the new academic year and call upon the Spirit of God to inspire our works, activities and studies throughout the year ahead. In November we will continue another custom rich in history.
During the month of November we will honor the long-held tradition in the Catholic Church when we remember in a special way our deceased loved ones. We shall offer our prayers for family and friends who have died and pray for their eternal peace in the Lord. I invite you to submit your personal requests through the online remembrance form. Please enter the names of your departed relatives and friends on the form and click submit. Submissions will be collected on Monday, October 29 and placed in the Book of Names for remembrance throughout the month of November, beginning at the Mass for the Feast of All Saints on Thursday, November 1 in the Mission Church. Masses that day will be at 12:05 p.m., 5:00 p.m. and a Misa en Español at 8:00 p.m. Throughout November, the Book of Names will remain on display in the Mission Church. My hope is that the prayers we offer throughout the month bring a sense of peace and consolation to all of us who have lost loved ones.
