inCircle Elements:
Home Page
– Users see all the activity in the association relevant to them, including new messages, invitations from other alumni, and friends’ birthdays. Search – A powerful keyword search tool that allows alumni to search for other alumni with common interests—from employment history to favorite activities. In addition, users can graphically see their relationship to the alumni listed in the search and the degrees of separation between them.
Directory
– Using the "Advanced" search capabilities, users have access to an interactive and dynamic directory of users that displays and maintains connections and associations between users. Jobs - Alumni and companies can post open positions in inCircle through the Jobs function. As a special courtesy to alumni, posting is free. Alongside the job posts are listed alumni on record as currently working at the company This is extremely beneficial for job hunters who can easily connect with other alumni in the company prior to application.
My Network – A visual representation of the connections between users displaying friends, friends-of-friends, and greater degrees of separation.
Network Messaging
– Users can send messages and announcements to their friends via customized lists. Groups – Alumni come together and communicate based on common interests. Users can, among other things, post to Group message boards, set up events, and share photo albums.
Events
– Users can create events and invite friends to attend. Forums
– Users can participate in SCU discussion threads by joining existing topics or creating new ones. My Profile – Users can update their contact information, share their interests and SCU affiliations, and post pictures.
My Account -
Users can determine their level of privacy, and customize the way their information is exchanged. Permanent E-mail Forwarding–This service allows alumni to use our e-mail forwarding system. Upon registering for inCircle, alumni are eligible for an “scualum.com” e-mail address, which will forward all messages received to the e-mail account of their choice. Alumni must activate this service in inCircle and supply the e-mail address where they would like their mail forwarded. (CURRENT/RECENT STUDENTS NOTE: This is NOT related to the campus Groupwise account, but is a completely separate service. Groupwise accounts only remain active for a 90-day grace period following graduation.)
WAYS TO USE INCIRCLE
Personal
· Housing -
Rather than posting an ad in the paper, alumni can use their network of contacts to find a roommate who shares their collegiate background and comes complete with references. ·
Reconnecting old friends - Alumni can search for old roommates or classmates and invite them to join the network. ·
Interest, professional, or location-based groups – Alumni who relocate can find friends or make new friends in an unfamiliar city. Individuals can also form groups based on common interests, such as the clubs/activities they participated in at SCU, or life events. · Referrals–
Alumni can get a personal referral for everything from a doctor to an electrician through inCircle. Professional

Alumni can post open positions and use their unique social network to get connected with the right person. · Career search –
inCircle makes looking for a new job easier by helping alumni cast a more targeted net. Sometimes a simple referral from a friend can make all the difference. · Networking –
Alumni can use various search criteria to identify individuals they know or want to know who can help them build their businesses and/or achieve professional goals.
