Santa Clara Alumni Association: Ireland 2008 Recap
This past August a group of 33 SCU alumni, faculty, family, and friends embarked on an exciting two week excursion through Ireland!
The trip combined tours of well-known sites with lesser-traveled destinations throughout Ireland’s breathtaking countryside. The group was also accompanied by SCU Religious Studies professor Paul Fitzgerald S.J. '80, English Professor Andrew Garavel, S.J., who offered their academic insight on the historical locations visited.

Some of the many exciting highlights from the trip include:
• Tea with the Lord Mayor of Dublin and Limerick.
• Time exploring Northern Ireland cities, landmarks, and communities
• Informational and historical lectures led by Fr. Fitzgerald and Fr. Garavel
• Visits and tours of medieval castles and churches and historic villages.
• Panoramic driving tours through the scenic countryside and farmland and along the amazing Irish coastline.
• A literary pub-crawl through Dublin’s infamous taverns frequented by some of Ireland’s foremost writers.

Stops included Belfast, Derry, Dublin, Kildare, Kinsale, Killarney, Kenmare, Adare, Aran Islands, and Galway.

We would like to thank all of last year’s participants for bringing their enthusiasm and Bronco spirit on our Ireland adventure. We also encourage you to join in on the fun. The planning process for our 2010 excursion has just begun and more details will be posted as they become available.
