Aloysius Varsi, S.J.
Aloysius Varsi, S.J.
Aloysius Varsi, S.J., who fled revolutionary Italy in 1848 at the age of eighteen. He studied mathematics and physics at the University of Paris and joined the Santa Clara faculty to teach mathematics and physics in 1864. He served as president from 1868 to 1876.
