Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)The Student Athlete Advisory Committee is a student-athlete organization consisting of two representatives from each team and a staff advisor. SAAC meets bi-monthly to discuss a variety of issues affecting the lives and the welfare of student-athletes at SCU and other NCAA member institutions. SAAC provides a voice to student-athletes on issues relating to legislation at the university, conference and NCAA levels.
On campus, SAAC works to raise student awareness and interest in SCU athletics, organizes social events for student-athletes and generally serves the needs of the student-athlete community at Santa Clara University.
Off campus, SAAC representatives organize community outreach efforts and encourage their teammates to be men and women for others, following in the Jesuit tradition.
SCU participates in SAAC at the Conference as well as at the NCAA level. At the Conference SAAC, student-athlete representatives from each school discuss issues affecting student-athletes in the West Coast Conference. The NCAA SAAC was adopted by legislation approved at the 1989 NCAA Convention, and was formed primarily to review and offer student-athlete input on NCAA activities and proposed legislation that affects student-athletes.
