Administrative Matters:

  • Steve introduced Barb Mack and Jeff Mitchell to the group. Mack is a graduate assistant in the Counseling Psychology program at SCU and will be working with Steve, while Mitchell is currently working with Jay Farwell
  • Committees: Everyone must be on at least one committee. A list of all the committees was attached to the agenda distributed at the meeting. New committees include the Red and White Society Committee and the Spirit Award Committee. The Red and White Society Committee will help in organizing community service events and will head up an academic awards lunch, and the Spirit Award Committee will organize a new way to determine the winners of the Bronco Spirit Award.
  • Bronco Spirit Award: More on this award: ideas for revision included a point system based on attendance and participation in various events such as the food drive.
  • Quarterly SAAC Newsletter: If you would like to help with this, contact Molly.

Upcoming Events:

  • Bronco Spirit Week: Bronco Spirit Week has the potential to be great for SCU spirit and athletic support. Get your teammates and friends to buy Spirit Week Packages ($15 at the Benson Infobooth) and BBQ tickets (available on dining points wherever Bon Apetit food is sold). The week will last from 10/8-10/13 and include daily activities also including a club fair, a presentation on the history of SCU, an SCU culture day, beer and wine tasting, and the Bronco Bash.
  • In the Near Future: In addition to Bronco Spirit Week, the main SAAC events of the year will be a clothing drive culminating with the basketball game vs. San Jose State, the WCC food drive, National Student-Athlete Day and the Academic Awards Lunch, Senior Awards, and Athlete’s Ball. More info to come on these as the year progresses.
