Academic Support
First year student-athletes participate in a few programs to assist with their transition into college. First, all first year student-athletes participate in a mandatory study-hall program. The study-hall program helps each student-athlete develop strong time management skills and enhance their study skills as they adapt to the demands and pressures of being a student-athlete at a Division I institution. Second, all first year student-athletes will be mentored by an upper class teammate with guidance from Bronco Basics: An Academic Guide for First Year Student-Athletes, a manual designed to aid with their transition. Commencing one’s undergraduate career on the right foot is essential to insuring long term academic success.
The Academic Resource Center provides academic tutors for student-athletes who are struggling in their classes. The Academic Support Manager assists student-athletes design their course schedules, keeping practice schedules, degree progression and NCAA eligibility requirements in mind.
The academic support resources provided by the Department of Athletics and Recreation supplement the academic resources provided by the Drahmann Advising and Learning Center, the Career Center, the Center for Student Leadership, the Office of Student Life, and the individual schools and academic departments on campus.
