On behalf of the School of Engineering faculty and staff, it is my pleasure to welcome you as you embark on a new stage in your academic and personal journey. At Santa Clara we are committed to providing an education that combines rigorous conceptual foundations with both leading-edge practice and a heightened sensitivity to the critical role engineering plays in contributing to the common good.

Your education will advance not only your technological knowledge and skills, but also your ability to work in leadership teams in today’s innovation-driven economy. Moreover, it will sharpen your sensitivity to engineering’s pivotal role in fostering a more just, prosperous, and sustainable world. No profession is more noble than engineering. Its disciplines contain the potential to imagine, create, and deploy the tools, systems, and built environment that will enhance the quality of life of civilization’s present and future generations.

The world today is increasingly complex, requiring people of uncompromising intellectual dedication and integrity to solve the unique challenges of an interconnected environment.  Silicon Valley pioneers were driven by the desire to explore, to innovate, and to improve society through advances in engineering.
