Joan Harrington
Academic Development Specialist
Joan Harrington joined the faculty of the Academic and Professional Development Department at Santa Clara University School of Law in 2007. She teaches Advanced Legal Writing: Analysis and oversees the program of Directed Study.
Ms. Harrington served as a law clerk for the Honorable Robert C. Zampano at the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut and taught legal writing at Stanford Law School before a career in non-profit and private practice encompassing trial, appellate and general counsel positions.
Ms. Harrington obtained her J.D. from University of Pennsylvania Law School, where she received Order of the Coif, and her B.A. from Stanford University.

Viva Harris
Assistant Director, Academic Development
Viva Harris received her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law, graduating summa cum laude and receiving the Chargin Prize. She received her B.A. in Literature from the University of California at Santa Cruz. Ms. Harris is a member of the Order of the Coif.
Viva Harris joined the law school in 2009 as the Assistant Director of Academic Development. She implements the Academic Success and Directed Study programs, working with students from their first year through their final year in law school. Ms. Harris teaches Advanced Legal Writing: Analysis and Lawyering Skills.
Ms. Harris’ private practice experience includes litigation in the areas of land use, real estate, and construction law, as well as transactional work involving real estate law. She was also an editor for the Daily Case Report, where she produced analysis of Federal and state appellate court opinions.

Sandra "Sandee" Magliozzi
Director, Professional Development & Externships
Sandee Magliozzi is the Director, Professional Development & Externships in the Academic and Professional Development Department at Santa Clara University School of Law. She oversees the many upper division law students who work for credit with judges, in-house counsel, and law firms practicing civil and criminal law. In addition, she teaches the Civil Practice, High Technology and Social Justice Externship Seminars and conducts workshops on professional skills and leadership development.
Magliozzi is a California attorney and former Drinan Fellow in the Economic Crimes Division of the United States Attorney. Before joining SCU, she was the firm-wide Professional Development Manager for Heller Ehrman and a former Senior Manager of Attorney Training and Development at Holland & Knight. She is the NALP Board Liaison to the National LGBT Bar Association. She also serves as Vice Chair of NALP’s Law Student and Lawyer Professional Development Sections’ collaboration focusing on “bridge the gap issues” as new lawyers move from law school to practice.
