E. Alexander Glover - Advisory Board

 

Now semi-retired, Alec Glover serves as an “executive coach” and leads strategic planning on a consulting basis primarily for organizations with no strategic planning experience, including pro-bono work for start-up non-profits.

Glover was previously Chief Executive Officer of Hello Direct, Inc. (HELO, Nasdaq), the leading developer and direct marketer of telecommunications equipment for small and medium-size businesses. He joined the Company in 1995 as Executive Vice President, and was appointed President and CEO in 1997. Glover and his officer team successfully implemented a business turnaround for Hello Direct. The company was sold to GN Great Nordic (a Danish telecom Company) in 2000.

From 1983 to 1994, Glover was Senior Vice President, Marketing and R&D, and member of the Corporate Executive Committee for Kransco Group Companies, the largest privately held toy and sporting goods company in the United States. The company was broken up and sold to Mattel, Inc. and other parties in 1995.

Prior to that, he held several senior management positions with the Procter & Gamble Company from 1969 to 1983, including head of marketing and co-chair of product development for P&G’s largest division, Package Soaps and Detergents.

Glover has a bachelor’s degree with honors from Harvard University and his Masters of Business Administration from Stanford University. He also was as an artillery officer in the U.S. Army.

Glover has served as a consultant to GN Hello Direct, the University of California (San Francisco), the University of Massachusetts (Worcester), Santa Clara University School of Business, and was a member of the boards of Hello Direct, Citation Insurance Company and State Industrial Products. He was also a trustee and member of the Executive Committee of the Pacific Vascular Research Foundation. He is currently on the advisory boards of the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University, the Tai Chi Cultural Center, and The National Institute for Play.
