2008 Biography

Michael Bendorf, Executive Director, Global Equity Organization (GEO)

Michael Bendorf is the Executive Director of the Global Equity Organization (GEO), an international non-profit association dedicated to building and enhancing a worldwide network of equity compensation professionals.  In this role, Michael is responsible for all aspects of GEO’s development and outreach, including regional and international conferences, ongoing education and networking, strategic relationships, and operational oversight.

Prior to joining GEO, Michael served as the leader of  the global survey and market research group for Buck Consultants, an ACS company. In that role, he led the development and expansion of Buck’s Global Long-Term Incentive Practices Survey, a leading source of information on equity compensation plan design and implementation in 37 countries around the world. In association with Global Shares, Michael also spearheaded the development of Buck’s Global Stock Plan Administration Survey as well as more than 30 other HR-specific surveys.


Michael is a frequent speaker on equity compensation program design and administration and has been to speak at a variety of conferences and meetings in the US, Canada, UK, Netherlands, Spain and Australia. He is a frequent contributor to WorldatWork and has spoken at events sponsored by GEO, Merrill Lynch, E*Trade, Silicon Valley Compensation Association, and NASPP.

Michael is a past member of the Board of Directors of GEO and is also an active member of WorldatWork, the Silicon Valley Compensation Association, and the Global Equity Leadership Forum. He received his BS in International Politics from Georgetown University and earned a Masters in International Business at St. Mary’s College of California.
