Congratulations to the 2013 CAPE Cohort!

CAPEGroup

Congratulations to the twenty-seven emerging entrepreneurs who completed the 2013 California Program for Entrepreneurship Program offered by the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University. This program, administered by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, was supported by a generous gift from Joseph and Linda Bronson, David and Kathy Pasek and Family, Tria & Barrett Cohn, the Leavey School of Business Office of the Dean and the School of Engineering Office of the Dean.

The six-month program featured four on-site weekends and a 7-day intensive workshop week of courses, online exercises, speaker presentations, industry panel discussions, mentoring, coaching, and group work, culminating in a $5,000 business plan pitch competition on the final day. Each of the entrepreneurs presented his/her plan before a distinguished panel of Silicon Valley leaders, venture capitalists and investors. As a bonus, the CIE also awarded $1,000 to sector winners. The spirit of the competition is to help these entrepreneurs become comfortable pitching and sharing their stories.   The competition results are as follows:

After an intense last morning of coaching, practice and competition, the group celebrated with family, friends, faculty, mentors, judges, and members of the 2010, 2011 and 2012 CAPE Cohort at an afternoon certificate ceremony and dinner reception at the historic Adobe Lodge. Leavey School of Business Dean Drew Starbird and Executive Director of Entrepreneurship Programs Dan Aguiar shared reflections and the CIE was pleased to recognize CAPE sponsors, announce the competition winners and present a certificate of completion to each member of the cohort.

We look forward to watching these ventures join with the other 60 CAPE ventures to establish roots here in California and grow to fulfill the mission of CAPE: to provide the educational tools to emerging entrepreneurs to help them develop businesses that will contribute to the growth and well being of the community and the California economy.

Congratulations, best wishes for success, and welcome to the Santa Clara University family!
