Plug&Play Tech Center's University EXPO Winners
iCoupon was one of four ventures selected out of fifteen startups competing for the win, including fellow CAPE cohort member Bill Buxton of Textbook Equity and SCU Bronco Diane Keng of MyWeboo.
At the event, 15 university-related start-ups had the opportunity to pitch their business in 3 minutes to a panel of potential investors in front of about 200 people. Following the pitch, each participant had a 30-minute question and answer session with the investors. Once all the presentations were finished, the investors and judges could walk around the expo and meet with each business individually for further information about its product or service. Then, at the end of the day, 4 companies were chosen as the winners. This year, the final 4 winners were: iCoupon from Santa Clara University's CAPE program, Black Locus from Carnegie Mellon University, Fountain Hop from Stanford University, and Smart Biosensors from University of California, San Diego.
