School Year Competitions Hit the Ground Running with Plug and Play University Expo October 1

Sunnyvale's Plug & Play Tech Center will be presenting a valuable opportunity at the annual University Expo for start-up companies developed by current students and recent graduates. The entrepreneurs will pitch in a three-minute elevator pitch format with a two-minute Q&A with a panel of venture capitalists, angel investors, and potential corporate partners. Following the presentation of pitches, each of the start-ups will host their own exhibition booth, where they can network with investors and other interested companies. Continue reading>>
California Program for Entrepreneurship (CAPE) 2010 Cohort Midway Through Program

The 2010 cohort of the California Program for Entrepreneurship (CAPE) recently completed their Workshop Week, a bootcamp-style in-residence portion of the program. The group, consisting of entrepreneurs with diverse ventures and varying stages of venture development, is midway through the program, which consists of intensive classroom courses, business plan preparation, speaker events, angel panel events, coaching sessions, one-on-one mentor meetings, and tours.

CIE Sponsors Early-Start Entrepreneurs with Camp BizSmart at SCU

This past August, the CIE was proud to sponsor and host the annual Camp BizSmart, a once-in-a-lifetime experience for burgeoning young entrepreneurs. Santa Clara's camp of 35 middle school-aged students comprised teams who took on two major issues facing our country today: energy efficiency and childhood obesity. To help guide the teams in their education and skill-building along the way, Camp BizSmart session was staffed by SCU undergraduate students as interns, leaders in training, and team facilitators. The Hara 2 team from the SCU session of Camp BizSmart, won the final competition being named “Camp BizSmart 2010, Tweenpreneurs of the Year”. Continue reading>>
