2008 Silicon Valley Boomer Business Plan Competition

• As of 2006 there were more than 108 million people in the US age 45+
• The 78 million baby boomers born between 1946 and 1964 make up 28% of the U.S. market and own more than 77% of all financial assets.
• They represent over $2 trillion in annual spending power!
• By the year 2030 there will be 71.5 million Americans age 65 and older, more than double the number of Americans currently within that demographic. This is a business opportunity you can't ignore.

Health - business ideas focused on health, wellness, fitness, eldercare, or medical devices with emphasis on the boomer and/or aging market

General - business ideas forcused on financial services, housing, media, transportation, real estate, travel, social networks, fashion, beauty, relationships with emphasis on the boomer/aging market

What: 2008 Silicon Valley Boomer Business Plan Competition

When: Final judging will take place at the 4th Annual Silicon Valley Boomer Venture Summit on June 17, 2008

Eligibility:

• Paritcipants must be eighteen (18) years of age or older
• University and college students, entrepreneurs, independent business professionals from around the globe are invited to submit business plans
• Business plans must show the 45+ market as the primary market for the product or service

  Contestants may submit intents and executive summaries 
• Friday, April 25, 2008
  Executive summaries due (3-5 pages) by 5:00 p.m. PDT

  Semifinalists selected
  All contestants notified
• Monday, May 19, 2008
  Semifinalists' complete business plans due by 5:00 p.m. PDT
• Monday, June 2, 2008
  Finalists selected
