The Information Technology Leadership Program (ITLP) helps information systems (IS) professionals develop the necessary skills to be successful in their jobs and advance their career opportunities. This includes skills that will complement their technical skills, such as general management, leadership, strategy, interpersonal communication, relationship-building, effective consulting, and the ability to effectively influence managers outside the IT function and within the organization.

The means used to accomplish the above objectives are lecture, skill-building activities and role modeling. Skill-building is accomplished through a three-part case study in which participants have an opportunity to practice the skills that they are taught and are coached on their performance of these skills. Role modeling is accomplished through the participation of guest CIOs who impart valuable practical information that has worked for them. Lecture modules are conducted by faculty from the Business School at Santa Clara University and by the Academic Dean of the program, Pete DeLisi.
