Food & Agribusiness InstituteThe Politics of HungerThe Politics of Hunger Please join FAI in welcoming United States Department of Agriculture Regional Director Dennis Stewart for a talk about the relationship between politics and hunger. Stewart will discuss the nine food assistance programs he oversees, including SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), WIC (Women, Infants and Children), and NSLP (National School Lunch Program). He will also address the impact these programs have on people in the community, the number and percentage of beneficiaries of the programs and the effect of current and pending legislation such as the Farm Bill. At the end of the talk, Stewart will discuss opportunities for Santa Clara students and community members to contribute to ending hunger in our communities.
