Students who complete the Managing Technology and Innovation Concentration are eligible to have the Concentration noted on their transcripts (please see the Bulletin for the list of requirements). Take advantage of this focused set of courses to deepen your overall understanding of: the innovation context, organizing for innovation (both large firm issues and start-ups), the process of innovation (team and project management), and systems design.  

These courses will better prepare you to engage with the Santa Clara University technology and innovation community.  Relevant University organizations include: the Leavey School of Business’ Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship; the SCU Center for Science, Technology, and Society; SCU's Tech Law Forum; and especially, the student-run Entrepreneurs’ Connection.

Your classmates pointed out that Judy Estrin, author of Closing the Innovation Gap (Reigniting the Spark of Creativity in a Global Economy) is speaking on campus Feb 9, 4:30-7pm. I have canceled my 503 class so they (and I can attend). If you do not have another class (or can talk your faculty into letting you go), please go.

Join us for a Global Innovation Dialogue with Judy Estrin, author of Closing the Innovation Gap. A technology pioneer and business leader, Judy will describe what will be required to reignite the spark of innovation in business, education, and government - ensuring our long-term success in the global economy.


Judy will highlight some of the key points from her book:

The fundamentals required to nurture innovation, including five simple but important values for transforming your organization into a force for productive change
How you can ensure that your business benefits from a thriving "Innovation Ecosystem"
Examples from established companies, startups, and research labs that illustrate the power of innovation


About the speaker

Judy Estrin is CEO of JLABS, LLC. She co-founded seven technology companies and was chief technology officer at Cisco Systems. Serving on the board of directors of the Walt Disney Corporation and FedEx Corporation, Estrin is also a member of the technology advisory boards of Stanford's School of Engineering and Bio-X campus-wide interdisciplinary initiative. She has been named three times to Fortune magazine's list of the 50 most powerful women in American business.
