MBA/MSIS Financial Scholarships and Assistantships

For those students who demonstrate additional financial need, the Graduate Business School provides limited student aid in the form of scholarships and assistantships that covers partial tuition only.  These funds are awarded by the Graduate Business Admissions Office and disbursed by the Financial Aid Office.  There are three main types of financial aid available to graduate students enrolled within the school of business:

• Merit-Based Scholarship:  Students receive these scholarships based on previous outstanding accomplishments such as community service, professional accomplishments and outstanding scholarship. Decisions are made at the discretion of the Graduate Business Admissions Office.
• Need-Based Scholarship:  Students are awarded based on special circumstances such as significant personal hardship or loss of employment that has dramatically increased their financial need.
• Assistantship:  Students are assigned to a Professor in the Business School assisting their departmental administrative and/or research tasks.  Matches are determined by whether the student possesses a level of interest in a Professor’s particular area of study and meets their required skill set.

Financial Scholarships and Assistantships are only available to U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents of the United States.  The Leavey School of Business, as well as Santa Clara University’s Financial Aid Office, is unable to support a scholarship program and limited resources do not allow the School to offer financial aid to international students. Ordinarily, financial aid is not available for non-citizens unless they have attained permanent resident status. Federal Loans

In addition, Financial Aid in the form of loans is available to MBA/MSIS students who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States. To apply for need and non-need-based federal loans, file the Free Applicant for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. Applicants for these federal loans must be attending at least half-time (enrolled in six quarter units per quarter). Please note, the earlier you submit, the quicker we will be able to process your financial aid application. You may complete your FAFSA form online, at www.fafsa.ed.gov.  Federal loan applications and further information regarding available loans may be obtained from University Financial Aid Office located in Varsi Hall on the 2nd Floor, (408) 554–4505.

 

Private Loans

Private loan programs offer a supplemental source of assistance for which need is not part of the eligibility criteria and approval is based on satisfactory credit and the ability to repay.  Private loan applications and further information regarding available loans may be obtained from University Financial Aid Office located in Varsi Hall on the 2nd Floor, (408) 554–4505.
