Finance

Concentration Coordinator   Meir Statman (Finance)

Requirements
The finance concentration consists of the two finance foundation courses, FNCE 3453 Corporate Finance and FNCE 3455 Investments, and nine finance electives units. All units of finance electives count toward the nine elective units, whether from 3-unit or 1-unit courses.

Transcripts will list the concentration as a finance concentration, but students who wish to specialize further are guided toward one of two tracks that would not be listed in the transcript: one for students most interested in careers within corporations, in positions such as Chief Financial Officer, and one for students most interested in careers within investment companies, in positions such as Chief Investment Officer. The finance concentration provides an extensive and deep knowledge of finance, assisting students to transition from technical functions or advance in financial leadership.

Learning Objectives

Students will have the knowledge and skills to:

  1. Analyze the valuation effects of investment and financial policies
  2. Interpret and analyze financial information and develop financial models for decision-making
