Graduate Business Programs
Evening Cohort Experience
Program Overview
Creating a cohort experience in the Evening MBA program will enable students to build relationships with their fellow classmates, instructors, and staff in the Leavey School of Business. A cohort experience will also provide new students with greater opportunities to interact with the Leavey School of Business and Santa Clara University communities.
The program will begin in the Fall term and last for three consecutive quarters (Fall, Winter, and Spring). During these quarters, students will be administratively registered for the same two courses each quarter with the intent of creating synergies amongst the faculty and the quarterly group project teams. Students intending to participate in this program will be asked to commit to fully engaging in the cohort experience for the entire three quarters.
In addition to the curriculum requirements, the Graduate Business Programs Office will provide academic counseling and curriculum planning to these students. Individual appointments can be scheduled by contacting the Academic Support and Records Team. Participants will be responsible for paying the tuition (through ecampus) and all course related costs (course materials, etc.).
Courses and Faculty
Courses for each term are determined in advance and instructors for each “pod” of courses will be asked to work together in developing assignments if practical. Each term presents a new opportunity for faculty to work synergistically to allow maximum learning. The following courses will be offered as part of the cohort experience:
| Fall 2012 |
|
Winter 2013 |
|
Spring 2013 |
| MGMT 501 |
|
MGMT 503 |
|
MGMT 505 |
| ACTG 300 |
|
OMIS 353 |
|
ECON 401 |
Course selection pairs a quantitative course with a non-quantitative course to provide students with a balanced schedule, the opportunity to possibly work within teams established during the first quarter, as well as meeting all course prerequisites.
The selected instructors will be asked to work together as a "faculty team" to plan classroom activities to enhance the learning environment and promote cohesion amongst the different fields of study.
Please note: waiver or transfer credit for the courses listed above will be rescinded if participating in the Evening Cohort and ALL pre-program Competencies must be met prior to beginning in the Evening Cohort Experience.
