Sha Luo, President

Doug is currently the Hockey Operations and Scouting Analyst for the San Jose Sharks and President of the SCU Sports Business Association. He earned his BA at Tufts University in Political Science and Classics while playing four years varsity hockey and two years varsity golf. He has international experience working in the financial, political, and sports & entertainment industries; he has worked for Massachusetts State Senator Jamie Eldridge, Qtrade Financial Group, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and Elite Sports Properties, the largest sports agency in Australia. Following graduation, Doug played professional ice hockey in Sweden and Australia, winning a league and national championship along the way. Doug is a second year MBA candidate and is looking forward to hosting this year’s Sports Business events, especially the annual Las Vegas MBA poker tournament in which SCU had two final table showings last year!

Chunheng (Robin) Li, VP Information Technology

As a VP of Information Technology, Robin will provide technology leadership and vision for the SBN and provide a strategic level of guidance in support of all information technology initiatives. Robin will also drive the implementation of development best practices throughout the organization, while governing control and ensuring objectives are achieved.

Robin earned his bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management from Michigan State University, and will earn his master’s degree in Computer Science in March 2015 from Santa Clara University.

Ry Sanderson, VP Strategy

Ry is a second year MBA students concentrating in Investment Finance. This will be his second year on the Sport Business leadership team as VP of Strategy. He currently works as the San Francisco city manager on a parking reservations platform by BMW automotive group. Before attending SCU, Ry studied exercise physiology at Central Connecticut State University and was captain of both their Division I Cross Country and Track and Field team. He joined SCU Sport Business to get involved with the local sports community and to discover opportunities for amateur athletes to transition into sustainable professional athletic careers. Ry enjoys working together with fellow students who are passionate about the prospective of profitable sports entertainment.

Barbara Ly, VP Marketing

Barbara is entering her second year in the MBA program at Santa Clara University with a concentration in Developing and Managing Sales and Customers in Business and Technology Market. While attending SCU, Barbara works at a manufacturing company that specializes in high temperature as a customer account manager that caters to the semiconductor industry. She graduated as a double major in Economics and Political Science from the University of California Davis. As a local resident of the Silicon Valley Bay Area, she enjoys the fast pace lifestyle of the ever growing tech industry and the wide array of local sports teams to cheer for. Barbara joined the Santa Clara Sports Business to expand her network, get more involved with the local sports community, and have fun with her fellow MBA classmates.

Rachel Sheppard, VP Finance

Rachel is beginning her second year in SCU’s MBA program with a concentration in marketing and finance. She completed her undergraduate degree in Animal Science & Management from the University of California, Davis. At UC Davis she played collegiate club volleyball for the UC Davis Women’s Club Volleyball team for three years. Additionally, she belonged to organizations like, Davis Vet Aide Club, MURALS Research Program, and the Yolo Country SPCA. She has an extensive background in sports including volleyball, basketball, softball, crossfit (weightlifting), and swimming. She really enjoys spending time with her husband and corgi, reading, exercising, crocheting, and baking.

Fiona McAvoy, Director of Alumni Relations

Fiona graduated from Santa Clara University with her MBA in Spring of 2012. While at SCU, she concentrated in finance and currently holds a role at Symantec performing strategic analysis for company initiatives. Prior to her MBA, she was working in physical therapy and involved in teaching martial arts. Fiona was President of the Network Athletic Connection for 2011-2012. She wants to continue to be involved with the networks to bridge the gap between alumni and current students and create lasting relationships among the different classes.
