MSIS Board of Advisors: Frank Hannig
Vice President and Chief Information Officer
Mr. Hannig is the Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Altera Corporation. In this position, he is responsible for working with Altera’s management to develop and implement a customer focused information systems strategy that is closely aligned with the needs of the business. One key component of this strategy is a close integration and intimacy with Altera’s customers and partners. Information systems play an important role in enabling this key business process. The information systems organization that Mr. Hannig manages is responsible for both the computer systems that are necessary to run the business and the supporting infrastructure. Some of the systems in use at Altera include ERP (Enterprise Wide Resource Planning Systems) using Baan, CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems using Siebel, and Content Management Systems using Interwoven. Altera also uses applications from other major vendors such as Tibco, Ariba, and i2. These systems operate on UNIX and Windows platforms. He is also responsible for the infrastructure at Altera, including the voice and data networks, e-mail, personal computers, servers, computer security, etc.
Prior to Altera, Mr. Hannig worked for such companies as LSI Logic, Price Waterhouse, and Watkins-Johnson. He started his career working as a Programmer Analyst and has held many different positions within information systems. Mr. Hannig holds a BS in Business from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo and a MBA from the Santa Clara University. He also holds a CPIM certification.
