    SCU's MBA program was ranked #37 in "The Best Grad Schools Guide 2016" published by U.S. News & World Report last week, improving from #46 last year, and tying with Villanova, Georgia, SMU, UC Irvine, Clemson, and Boston College.

    "There are several reasons for the improvement," said Dean Drew Starbird, "including an increase in the average GPA, average GMAT score, and increased work experience of our latest class of MBA students."

    U.S. News editors surveyed deans and MBA program directors of 323 part-time MBA programs in the nation and used their assessment along with schools' entrance exam scores, student work experience, and percentage of class that was enrolled part-time to create the Guide rankings.

    Among Jesuit business schools, Santa Clara tied with Boston College for the #2 spot, and is ranked #5 among California MBA programs.

  •  Carolyn Evans named Senior Assistant Dean, Graduate Business Programs

    Carolyn Evans, a senior economist at Intel Corporation, has been named senior assistant dean for graduate business programs in the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University, beginning January 27.

    “Dr. Evans’ academic expertise and industry experience make her an exceptional choice to lead the growth of our Graduate Business program,” said Dean Drew Starbird, in making the announcement. “Her leadership will be significant as we strengthen our flexible MBA offerings and add new master’s degrees to serve a diverse Silicon Valley workforce.”

    Evans was most recently senior economist in the sales and marketing division at Intel Corporation. Previously she had served as associate professor of economics, and faculty director of the undergraduate business program at Santa Clara University. She was a senior economist for the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, and served as senior staff economist on the Council of Economic Advisers at the White House.

    She earned the AB, AM and Ph.D. degrees from Harvard University, and holds a master’s of science degree from the London School of Economics.
