  • “Green Business” Guru Joel Makower to Speak at SCU November 5

    Monday, Oct. 22, 2012 3:01 PM

“How can business succeed in a world gone green?” is the question Joel Makower poses to business leaders, academics, and students in more than 20 years as a consultant on green strategy and marketing. The noted author will explore the topic on Monday, November 5, with the Santa Clara University community.

Makower, whose recent book, Strategies for the Green Economy, has been widely praised by business leaders, is also executive editor of GreenBiz.com, a news and information site about business and sustainability. He has written more than a dozen books about green business and marketing, and is also advisor to a clean-tech venture capital fund. An Oakland, California native, he serves on the board of several for-profit and non-profit organizations.

“The green economy presents opportunities for entrepreneurial SCU students and alumni to contribute to the prosperity of their communities,” said Business School Dean Drew Starbird.  “We’re delighted that Joel Makower will share his expertise and insight with the Santa Clara University business school faculty and staff, and with the larger Santa Clara community as well.”

The November 5 event, sponsored by the Sustainability Research and Professional Development grant fund, will start at 7:00 p.m. in Forbes Family Conference Center in Lucas Hall (Room 126) and is open to Santa Clara University faculty and students. For more information, contact Professor Gail Kirby, Marketing, at gkirby@scu.edu or 408.551.1894.
