  • SCU Startup Expo

    Thursday, Mar. 20, 2014 11:00 AM

The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) recently hosted its most successful Startup Expo to date, with record attendance by students, alumni and startups.

Held March 5 of this year, the Startup Expo is a distinctive internship and career fair for the SCU community. The Expo provides the opportunity for students and alumni to connect with local startups seeking to hire talented young individuals. This year, hundreds of students and alumni attended, interacting with capacity crowd of 60 startups, some of which were alumni and California Program for Entrepreneurship (CAPE) ventures.

The Startup Expo, co-sponsored by the CIE, the SCU Career Center and the student club Santa Clara Entrepreneurs Organization (SCEO), began four years ago when CIE student Kathy King (BSC ’12), a finance major interested in Entrepreneurship, brought the idea to the Center.

Undergraduate and graduate students seeking internships and employment opportunities in regional start-ups will find an array of companies at the Startup Expo on March 6, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. in Benson Memorial Center on campus.

Sponsored by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Santa Clara University School of Business, the career fair brings employers seeking a typical Santa Clara student: bright, ambitious, and with a wide variety of skills ready to be put to work in an entrepreneurial setting.

Startup Expo is in its third year, and each year the number of companies represented grows. Among the companies at last year's Expo were RoboteX, Stylematic, Cahoot, Optown, Red Seraphim, and InnoVentions.
