Five MBAs from Santa Clara University returned from Frankfurt, Germany last week with the 2nd place award from the business case competition at this year’s International Food and Agribusiness Management Association (IFAMA) conference, “The Road to 2050: Sustainability as Business Opportunity.”

Brian Avants (MBA, Class of 2011), Suhas Mehta (2012), Justin Porter (2011), Dylan Salisbury (2010), and Didier Tshimbalanga (2012) competed against nine other teams from agribusiness programs around the world, edging out all but Kansas State, said Dr. Gregory Baker, professor of management and director of the SCU Food and Agribusiness Institute.

“The team represented SCU very well, with solid and creative analysis, and excellent presentation skills,” he said, adding his thanks to FAI instructor Michael Enos and FAI Assistant Director Jessica Gagnon who helped the team prepare.

This is the 2nd year that the Santa Clara team has placed in the competition, which is presented by IFAMA to introduce to industry opportunities and thought leadership. The 2009 team placed first in the conference held in Hungary.
