Mario Belotti : Silicon Valley Economic Picture Brighter : KCBS Radio & KQED Radio

Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010

An improved economy is ahead for Silicon Valley, said Mario Belotti, W.M. Keck Professor of Economics in the Leavey School of Business, who told reporters from KCBS and KQED California Money about the economic picture after his annual Forecast on February 2.

Belotti, who has been assessing the U.S. economy for nearly four decades, predicted modest growth of 3.5 to 4 percent nationally. When compared to the recoveries of 1983 and 1976, he said "it's not as vigorous as that. But, it's going to be good."

Unemployment numbers will continue to lag, he said.
