Buford Barr : Google's Image and Advertising : San Jose Mercury News

Buford Barr, a faculty member in the Marketing and Communications departments at SCU, wonders why Google is making mass media purchases when the "level of brand awareness has got to be close to 99 percent."
Barr's remarks were quoted in a recent article about Google's increase in its advertising and marketing and advertising budgets and the speculation that the company feels it can no longer rely on word of mouth to shape its image.
