Daniel Aguiar, Dean’s Executive Professor of Entrepreneurship, was recently quoted in the glassdoor.com blog. The blog post is titled “Tips to Land an Internship at a Start- Up or Small Business” and is written by Vickie Elmer, who specializes in writing about careers and small business.
According to the article, now is a good time to look for summer internships at small companies and start-ups. This is the time when many of these organizations are looking for people to provide extra support during the months of July and August.
The blog post offers readers advice on how to find an internship outside of the Fortune 500 and other very large companies, suggesting seeking out business incubators and business parks, as well as lawyers and alumni associations. Aguiar offers his own advice is getting one of these positions, saying, “Show a lot of initiative. They’re going to look for fit, someone who’s a go-getter.”
