Retail Studies Student AssociationOnce accepted to the Retail Studies Program, students are automatically enrolled into the Retail Studies Student Association (RSSA). RSSA provides students with various networking, scholarship, and leadership opportunities. Students in the program have access to a wide variety of opportunities. All students are eligible to apply for financial and trip-based scholarships. Two trip scholarships are awarded annually, taking students to New York City, for the National Retail Federation Convention, and to Orlando, Florida, for the Shop.org e-retailing conference. One of the best parts of RSSA is the opportunity for leadership. The executive board, as headed by the president, hosts a variety of events for enrolled students as well as for the general Santa Clara body. Annual events include Meet the Retailers (a retail-only career fair with companies like Macy’s and Apple) and Journey to the Board Room (a presentation by a panel of bay area executives). Other events include fundraising efforts and philanthropy events to support local organizations. 2009-2010 Executive Board:
