Leavey Scholars Program

The Leavey Scholars Program offers special opportunities for business students who have established a record of excellence in their Santa Clara studies. Special “scholars” sections of the following classes are offered to students enrolled in the program:

FNCE 121S – Financial Management
MKTG 181S – Principles of Marketing
OMIS 108S – Operations Management
MGMT 160S – Organization and Management
BUSN 162S – Business Capstone

Also offered for Leavey Scholars are honors sections of two lower-division courses:

ECON 3H - International Economics, Development, and Growth
MGMT 6H – Business Ethics

Students enrolled in the Leavey Scholars Program enjoy the following benefits:

  • Special “honors” sections offered only to similarly motivated students
  • Early registration
  • The designation of “Leavey Scholar” on the student’s transcript upon completion of the program

Enrollment in the Leavey Scholars Program is by invitation only. Those invited are business sophomores who have maintained a cumulative SCU GPA in the top 10-15% of their class through the end of the fall quarter of their sophomore year (this usually equates to a minimum GPA of 3.7 or better).

To complete the Leavey Scholars Program, participants complete at least three upper-division scholars sections, or 2 upper-division scholars sections and one of the two offered lower-division honors courses, followed by the scholars section of the capstone.

Questions about the Leavey Scholars Program should be addressed to the Undergraduate Business Programs Office in the Leavey School of Business (Kenna 110, x 4791).
