When to Offer an Internship
Santa Clara University follows the quarter system, with the academic year beginning in late September and ending in mid-June. While offering an internship or co-op that coincides with our students’ academic calendar is ideal, it is understood that these opportunities may be offered at any time during the year.
Start dates and end dates for internships are generally required to follow the academic calendar when the student is expected to earn credit for the internship. This does not apply to engineering co-ops, which may begin at any time during the year.
The usual length of a non-credit internship is three to six months. However, the exact duration of an internship is left to the discretion of the employer and the student.
Please let us know if you hire any of our students. We are always interested in learning what the outcome was for employers who post positions with us.
